Another life update.

So the bad news is that Corrigan lost the election, as did Erik Miller, and the winner being Richard Miller.

And the good news is... )

To wrap this up, all I can say is that I hope things work out for the best.

In order to prove that we (Jason Corrigan and company) are different, I'm going to post this. The cat is out of the bag anyways as Corrigan's already posted this to his Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/unifyingoneonta?ref=mf

A week ago, Oct 20th, I was approached by Kim Muller as I was out walking. Kim Muller is a former Oneonta Mayor who's working with Richard Miller (who's running for Mayor against Corrigan) and also happens to be an acquaintance of mine, so to speak.

Muller proceeds to tell me that Corrigan has an extensive arrest record while attending SUNY Platsburgh, "Beats on Woman", and a history of violence. I thank her for this information, not really believing it and head on my way. Later that day, I approach her at an event and ask her if she has any documentation proving what she told me. She claims that she does and that it can be obtained by FOIA (Freedom of Information Act). I again thank her.

On Wednesday, October 21st, I email her, pretend to believe her and suggest that the information be turned over to The Daily Star (the local paper).
This is the text of my email:
Text of my email )

This is what I get back:
Text of Muller's email back )

So on Friday, Oct. 23rd, I go to The Daily Star office building in person and tell someone at the front desk that "I have information regarding Jason Corrigan" and end up speaking with Sam Pollak. He tells me that they've been hearing these rumors as well and are in the process of trying to obtain the information via FOIA.

For those who would consider believing this, I myself cannot really believe that obtaining an arrest record would be all that difficult for a newspaper. Thus, my only conclusion is that I'm being lied to by Kim Muller.

For the record, I really don't like being lied to. In fact, I passionately hate it. I will not abide it being done to me. That is why I am posting this. The voters of Oneonta deserve to know what the truth is and what members of Richard Millers campaign are resorting to in order to attempt a win.

First, my citizens ride along with the police that I had scheduled was canceled at the last minute due to the station being short staffed. Now have to re-schedule. In what was sort of a big news story (at least for the area) two are police officers resigned amidst a bit of a scandal, and a third placed on administrative leave. Check out: http://www.thedailystar.com/local/local_story_283040028.html if you want to know more.

In news that hit a little closer to home to me, my Aunt Nancy called me Saturday while I was doing laundry and told me that my dog Sassy, (now owned by my Aunt due to apartment regulations) had gone through some sort of weird episode, where Sassy had become unresponsive for a period of time. So much so that my Aunt feared she'd be calling to tell me that my dog was dead. Given that Sassy is 13-14 years old, she's had a good life.

Anyways, Sassy was at the Vet's today and according to the vet, it was most likely a seizure of some sort. I was at my Aunt's house on Sunday and Sassy seemed fine and just as energetic as she has been of late. So, maybe this didn't mean anything.

Looking Back - Part 5 )

So that's that, there's still more I want to write about my past, but I'm not sure that I'll get around to it. A couple of items I either forgot to write about or skipped over to come back to later, such as the death of my cousin.

One item though, that I do want to say after looking over the last entry is that I want to be careful and say that I don't want to imply that psychiatric illnesses are not serious health problems in of themselves. Trust me, after meeting the people that I did in the psychiatric ward and seeing the problems and illnesses that they faced, I can hardly make the claim that a psychiatric illness are anything to laugh about. My issue has more to do with the methods of treating such illnesses and the attitude that many in our society have towards "quick fix". It is after all much easier to take a pill then it is for many people to talk about their problems with anyone, including a psychiatrist or make the necessary changes in their life that would allow them to become more healthy. From what I've seen though, many people tend to not realize the risks involved with psychiatric medications and while many people may not read this blog, a few do. That was one of my reasons I have written here what I have.

It seems only natural to me that I've become a bit more reflective recently. With my recent graduation and with a lot more free time on my hands, I am now at what could be called a crossroads of sorts. As a result, I've been doing a lot of thinking of not only where I want to go with my life, but how I ended up where I am now. I'm now planning on writing a couple of autobiographical entries, of which this is the first. I'm not telling this story with the intent of gaining sympathy or respect or even because I think that there are a great many people out there who are interested in reading something like this, rather I know now the dangers of repressing ones emotions and hiding one's true self from other people. This is, to put it simply, a story of what I remember.

However, one disclaimer I would like to make ahead of time is that there are events that I do intend to share here, even though they would have a great impact on my life to date. This is due to the fact that these events (mostly) happened before I was even born, and thus are not my story to tell. I've also been asked by certain individuals to keep this information confidential, which is in my mind, far different from keeping a secret.

Looking Back - Part 1 of ?? )

I have a job. Subway. Yay. Started Monday. Will get workschedule today. It's like working at the Oneonta Bagel Company again. Only with fewer bagels and more subs.
